Fundraising Update

In spite of all the public holidays, School holidays and the computer glitches over the past couple of weeks, I am pleased to be able to inform you that our grand total has increased by R125,337 to give us a total of R16,768, 087 from 543 donors. In terms of donations in and performance against target, the 1950's are going to be difficult to beat as they have brought in R1,743,419 and have achieved 90% of their target.(This does not include two pledges of R 1 million each!) As far as donors are concerned, the 1990's are pulling away from the 2000's with 151 donors as opposed to 140. The year 2000 is still in the lead with 42 donors with 1990 and1994 beginning to close the gap as they approach the 30's. One of the exciting developments of the past week has been the donation of a Walter Battiss water-colour from Brian Nichol of the Class of 1951, now living in Australia.The painting is due to be delivered by courier this week and will go on auction at Bernardis when they next have an auction of paintings. This could prove to be a great donation and we are most grateful to Brian for his generosity. I would also like to draw your attention to the generous offer of Mark Rutherfoord (Class of 1997) who has donated a voucher valued at R64,000 for 2 nights for 4 couples at his big five Game reserve , Gondwana, near Mossel Bay.
